    What is Ronda known for?

First Roman and medieval settlement, Ronda dazzles all its visitors thanks to its location, its wonderful panoramic views and the spectacular Serrania de Ronda that surrounds it. Famous writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Rainer Maria Rilke also fell in love with Ronda.

    Where is Ronda?

Ronda is located at an altitude of 723 meters in the Serranía de Ronda, on the Guadalevín river, which separates the city into two parts. It is located on the A-376 between San Pedro Alcántara (50 km) and Algodonales (39 km), 145 km from Seville, 52 km from Marbella, 86 km from Antequera, 113 km from Málaga, 113 km from Jerez de la Frontera, 151 km from Cádiz, 632 km from Madrid and 1,016 km from Barcelona. It is the second most inhabited village in the interior of the province, after Antequera.

Why are the houses in the Pueblos Blancos white?

The houses in Pueblos Blancos are white to protect them as much as possible from the sun in summer or during heat waves. White houses stay cooler in the hot summer than other colors. This wisdom comes from the Moors. The white color reflects sunlight and does not absorb it, keeping the house cool.

Is Ronda in the province of Malaga?

Yes, Ronda is located in the province of Malaga and is one of the most famous of the white villages of the Sierra. Also the white village of Zahara de la Sierra has one of the most impressive scenery in the province of Cadiz.

    Who built the Ronda bridge?

Architects José García and Juan Camacho were commissioned to build the Ronda bridge and were chosen for the project. Major works began work on a single-arch design in 1735. According to the records, they finished the bridge on time, but not in the best way. As it turned out, the entire bridge collapsed 7 years later, in 1741. Unfortunately, the collapse claimed the lives of 50 people, most of them residents of the city of Ronda.

Why was the Ronda bridge built?

In 1700, Ronda finally had the opportunity to build a bridge over the Guadalevín River. The purpose of this bridge was to facilitate the transportation of people and vehicles and to serve as a link between El Mercadillo and La Ciudad. It became necessary due to the impossibility of using the roadway by Jesus Christ.

How high is the New Bridge of Ronda?

The New Bridge was built between 1759 and 1793, more than three decades. It is considered a masterpiece of engineering. It is 98 m high and 70 m long.

What exactly is the name of the bridge in Ronda?

It is called "PUENTE NUEVO" and is known for having the best views. The best views of the New Bridge are obtained from the small path that starts at the Plaza de María Auxiliadora. In addition to its beauty, the New Bridge of Ronda is also known for its mysteries and legends, which have been recounted in numerous books and historical writings.
