Your day in Ronda will begin with a visit and exploration of the enormous medieval fortress of Castillo de las Aguzaderas, located in the municipality of El Cononil, whose walls were the scene of important confrontations as it was a strategic point. Before leaving, you will have time to do some shopping and return to the meeting point.

Who built the Ronda bridge?
Architects José García and Juan Camacho were commissioned to build the Ronda bridge and were chosen for the project. Major works began work on a single-arch design in 1735. According to the records, they finished the bridge on time, but not in the best way. As it turned out, the entire bridge collapsed 7 years later, in 1741. Unfortunately, the collapse claimed the lives of 50 people, most of them residents of the city of Ronda.

In 1700, Ronda finally had the opportunity to build a bridge over the Guadalevín River. The purpose of this bridge was to facilitate the transportation of people and vehicles and to serve as a link between El Mercadillo and La Ciudad.
