The Gaitanes Gorge is a gorge in the center of the province, crossed by the Guadalhorce River. Its northern access is at the Guadalhorce reservoir and its southern access at El Chorro.

A water canal was built from the northern reservoir to El Chorro, with a maintenance road alongside it.

After reaching the Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, the most important water reservoir in the province of Malaga.

The most famous suspended path in Andalusia, El Caminito del Rey, was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII.

More Information about El Caminito del Rey, El Chorro

The path is approximately 3 km long, with sections less than one meter wide and located about 100 meters above the Guadalhorce River. It has been recently restored and follows the same canal, with vertical walls and a pedestrian bridge over the gorge.

After 4 years of major repairs and renovations, the King's Way trekking route reopened to the public in 2015. It has become one of the most popular active tourism activities in Spain, appreciated by travelers visiting Andalusia.

The Caminito del Rey is 7 km long and can be walked safely thanks to the numerous safety measures in place.
