Seville and its surroundings were one of the numerous enclaves chosen by the producer of the series HBO to shoot the sequences of the famous series Juego de Trono.
For the fifth season of the series Game of Thrones, Spain and especially Andalusia in general had captivated the directors and at the head of the exteriors who recognized that Osuna, Cordoba, Granada and Seville could be part of the chosen stage, where protagonists like Lord Tyron, Queen Khaleesi and Jaime Lannister would be seen in flesh and blood to the great joy of fans and the local economy.
The choice of Seville and Osuna is a perfect bet because the lands created from the imagination of George R. R. Martin (the author of the saga that inspired the series) are very close to the Andalusian regions and correspond perfectly with the landscapes described in the books.
Seville’s most popular royal palace was l´un, a favorite place for American production. The Gardens of the Alcazar represented the Gardens of Dorne, the home of Doran Martell’s house in Suzerain, qu´interprète Alexander Siddig.
The enclosure of the great walls propitiated the perfect staging of the Land of the Dorne, one of the kingdoms imagined by George R. R. Martin in his series Song of Ice and Fire.

The Roman ruins of Italica (remains found in Santiponce, about 15 minutes from Seville) were also selected by the Game of Thrones film crews. The ruins of Santiponce are much appreciated by the producers of GOT , as the large dimensions of the Roman amphitheatre provide a comfortable environment for the installation of sets, equipment and allows the scenes to be filmed as desired. the “Unidad del Lobo”, also responsible for filming in Seville, filmed the Roman amphitheatre to turn it into the ruins of Fossedragon, a great place where the Targaryans imprisoned their dragons and a decisive place for the next events of the series and the cult of the series.
It is the first time that this beautiful and well-preserved castle appears in the series and is transformed into a castle of Haut-Jardin. The fertile lands of the Guadalquivir Valley and Almodóvar Castle were the ideal place to symbolise the Kingdom of the Throne Game.
The Sevillian municipality of Osuna was also one of the many places chosen by the filmmakers of the Iron Throne. Among the bloodiest scenes of the sequence were shot on the sand of Osuna, as it was used because it used the Daznak well in Meereen, and during the filming of the sequence, Osuna experienced a gigantic renaissance of its local tourism. There is even a bar that took advantage of the sequences filmed in the city d´Osasuna to invent tapas with the identity of the characters of our favorite series.
